Interstate 5 northbound lanes backed up for 7.5+ miles from Herring Road to Valpredo Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A big rig that caught fire has resulted in a seven and a half mile back-up on I-5 to Valpredo Avenue.
On August 20, at about 3:20 p.m., the California Highway Patrol sent a sig alert out regarding a big rig trailer that was loaded with frozen chickens, caught fire and burned on I-5 northbound, north of Herring Road.
As of 4:28 p.m., the highway had one lane open.
Officials said the estimated time to get the slow lane reopened is about 4 to 5 hours.
The public is advised to avoid the area.
