Judge allows Bakersfield ordinance banning medical marijuana dispensaries

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A judge said a Bakersfield ordinance banning marijuana dispensaries is allowed.

The group called Concerned Citizens on Bakersfield said the closing of dispensaries is bad for the environment.

Ordinance 4731 prohibits zoning of dispensaries in Bakersfield.

The lawsuit was filed by the Concerned Citizens of Bakersfield in July 2013.

An attorney for Concerned Citizens says closing them would force medical marijuana users to grow their own weed and could strain power grids, create greenhouse gases, and increase wastewater run-off.
A Bakersfield City attorney describes the lawsuit as ridiculous.
The decision can be appealed to a higher court.
