BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Fire Department issued a report on the injuries following the power plant implosion Saturday.
Fire crews from were on site assisting with safety measures for the planned demolition of the PG&E power plant at the intersection of Rosedale Highway and Coffee Road, officials said.
One minute after the 6 a.m. detonation, fire dispatchers received a 911 call for an adult male that had received an injury due to the blast, officials said.
Crews went to the scene of the accident on the east side of the power plant on private property.
Fire crews treated a total of five patients, officials said.
Four were treated and released on scene and one critical patient was transported to a local trauma center and has been listed in critical condition, officials said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by various agencies, officials said.
