BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Fire department received calls of smoke coming from a house on the 7500 block of Penny Marie, in northwest Bakersfield at about 8:10 a.m. Saturday, officials from KCFD said.
The first crews on scene witnessed heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a large home. A third alarm was dispatched, officials said.
Firefighters entered the home, found heavy smoke in the attic, officials said.
They found the fire burning in a room off of the garage, officials said.
Firefighters prevented the fire from running through the entire attic and saved the remainder of the house, officials said.
All occupants were safely out of the house. The cause of the fire is determined to be accidental, but electricity cannot be ruled out, officials said.
