BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Local firefighters are taking part in a training class with firefighters from all over the world.
The Kern County Fire Department is taking part in a class made up of 31 firefighters from across California, Seattle, Spain and Canada.
They will be trained on a tactic called positive pressure attack to remove smoke and heat from a building.
In video from a similar training exercise, firefighters were seen placing power fans near an exit.
This training improves the survival rate of trapped victims and lessens damage to the building.
The concept was pioneered by a retired Kern County fire chief.
