KCFD responding to a fire in Northwest Bakersfield

UPDATE (October 17, 2017 7:35 a.m.): A family of four is now displaced after a fire engulfed their home late Monday night. The father and the two children were inside of the home when the fire broke out, but they were able to safely get out. 

The mother arrived on scene just as they were getting out. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within minutes and keep the fire to the structural origin. 

An arson unit was on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

Update: (October 16, 2017 11:25 p.m.):

A mother, father, and their two kids live in the single story building. It's unclear if they were hurt in the fire.

The Kern County Fire Department is responding to a fire in Northwest Bakersfield. The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Shellabarger Road. According to KCFD, a single story building is on fire. We have a crew headed to the scene and we'll bring you updates once they become available.
