Kern County fire crews received a call for a grass fire around 8:34 p.m. Monday on Highway 155 near Evans Road.
Due to the drought and the time of year it is, a full wildland response was sent.
Crews arrived and found a slow moving fire that is in thick heavy brush.
Many fire crews along with engines, patrols, dozers and crews from the Sequoia National Forest were on scene.
The fire department says the fire should be fully contained by Tuesday night.
