BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Cheatham Avenue in southeast Bakersfield Sunday morning.
Juan Reynaldo Cisneros, 37, unlawfully fired a handgun several times into the ceiling of his downstairs apartment before walking outside and negligently firing the handgun in the courtyard of the apartment complex, officials said.
No one was injured during the shooting, and officials said it does not appear to be gang related.
The firearm was recovered at the scene. Cisneros fled on foot and was located by deputies nearby, officials said.
Cisneros displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a suspected controlled substance when he was contacted by deputies at the scene, officials said.
Deputies discovered ammunition, suspected methamphetamines, and drug paraphernalia during a search of Cisneros’ apartment, officials said.
Cisneros was arrested and booked for suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, being an ex- felon in possession of a firearm, being an ex-felon in possession of ammunition, suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of suspected drug paraphernalia, officials said.
