ROSAMOND, Calif. - A man was arrested on drug and firearm charges after running from a car during a traffic stop, officials from the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected of reckless driving in Rosamond Friday at about 11:16 p.m., officials said.
The vehicle stopped in the yard of a home in the 6200 block of Sweetser Road, officials said.
A passenger in the vehicle stepped out of the vehicle and ran from deputies, officials said.
As deputies chased the subject, they saw him throw an item onto the ground that was later determined to be methamphetamine, officials said.
The suspect was caught after a short foot chase and was identified as Steven James Wilson, 42, of Rosamond, officials said.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for Wilson's residence after further investigation and found two stolen firearms, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and other evidence consistent with drug sales, officials said.
Steven Wilson was booked into the Kern County Sheriff's Office, Mojave Jail with drug sale and possession charges, as well as possession of stolen property, felon in possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest, officials said.
Bail for Steven Wilson is currently set at $182,500.
