KCSO says two men caught stealing farm equipment were arrested

One was convicted felon

LAMONT, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit has noticed an increase in farm equipment being stolen in the rural areas of Kern County.

Detectives placed farm equipment under surveillance and on March 20 they received an alarm indicating the equipment had been moved.

The detectives said they tracked the equipment to the 1100 block of Rose Street in Lamont and they obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During the search, detectives said they located the stolen farm equipment along with a stolen Polaris quad and a stolen handgun.

Detectives said they arrested 52-year-old convicted felon Jesus Guillen Jr. for grand theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand theft auto, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of tear gas.

Detectives said they also arrested 30-year-old Richard Reyes III for grand theft and receiving stolen property. Both men were booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
