Kern County agencies offer community members tips to conserve water

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The drought is making fighting fires difficult and now it could also cost you if the state approves mandatory water restrictions.

Local agencies want to make sure you know the best ways to conserve water.

The Water Association of Kern County along with several other agencies held a Water Conservation Day.  Experts offered tips on conserving water at home.

There was also information on irrigation techniques and water efficient appliance demonstrations.

"It's a good chance to reach out to the community, educate them and let people ask questions on what they can do to use water wisley," said Art Chianello, water resources manager.

Chianello says even cutting back on watering your lawn by just a few minutes everyday will save a lot of water.
