Kern County Animal Control adopting out hundreds of animals in preperation for move

Kern County Animal Control has just two weeks before it has to be out of the animal shelter on Mount Vernon.

Shelter staff says that adoptions are going so well that the number of animals inside the shelter is as low as anyone there can remember. Just 360 animals were in the shelter on Monday down from an average of about 700.

Nearly 900 animals have been either adopted or rescued from the shelter in the last four weeks.

Some of the equipment has already started to make its way to the new Fruitvale location, but the animals won’t be moved until the last three days.
