Kern County Animal Services reducing fees, spreading love during Valentine's Day event

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County Animal Services wants you to fall in love.

The shelters in Bakersfield, Mojave and Lake Isabella are each hosting special Valentine's Day events Friday.

All pet adoption fees for dogs and cats have been reduced.  Dog adoption fees which are normally $75 and $85 have been reduced to just $20.  Cat adoption fees which are normally $40 and $50 have been reduced to just $10.

“We have some wonderful pets waiting for forever homes and we encourage anyone that has been thinking about adopting a pet to take advantage of our ‘Will You Be Mine?’ adoption promotion,” stated Nick Cullen, Shelter Supervisor for Kern County Animal Services.

All fees include spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, Rabies vaccination and dog license for qualifying dogs and a one year dog license for residents living in unincorporated areas of Kern County.

“These animals would love to be your valentine and they promise to love you forever,” Cullen said.  “Valentine’s Day is typically a day to share your love with another and what better way to do that than by rescuing a shelter pet in need.”
