BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County District Attorney's Office has filed a Civil Complaint with a Stipulated Final Judgment against Assessor Jim Fitch for his April 28 press release endorsement of candidate Jon Lifquist.
The complaint was filed under California Government Code section 8314(c)(1) which prohibits use of public resources for campaign activities.
Jim Fitch has agreed to pay $400 in restitution and penalties to the County of Kern and $435 in Kern County Superior Court fees.
The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Scott Spielman, and Fitch cooperated with the investigation.
