Kern County deputies are investigation after shots fired, reported stolen weapon found

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  

Officials have said there is an investigation on an assault with a deadly weapon today.

On March 29, at about 2:30 a.m., deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Metro Patrol Division, went to the area of Pioneer Dr. and Rosewood Ave., regarding a report of shots fired. 

Deputies said they found a Hispanic man on Brentwood Drive, suffering from a superficial gunshot wound to his left leg.  The victim refused medical aid at the scene.

During the investigation, deputies said they found shell casings at a home on Brentwood Drive. 

A search warrant was served.  During the search warrant service, deputies found a 9mm rifle, which was reported stolen to the Bakersfield Police Department.  Deputies also found narcotics in the home.

Deputies said they are trying to identify possible suspects in the assault with a deadly weapon. 

At this time, it is unknown if the recovered stolen weapon was used in the assault.   

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
