LAKE ISABELLA, Calif. - The Kern County Fire Department is in the process of getting two brand new fire stations.
The county is planning to tear down Fire Station 72 in Lake Isabella and they are currently in negotiations to buy a vacant piece of property nearby to build a new one.
The new station will be much larger and have more parking spaces available for the three crew members and the 21 Rio Bravo hot shots who call it their home.
The Fire Department is also in discussions to replace Fire Station 76 in Kernville.
They are hoping to build a larger, modern station there as well, however they have not found a suitable lot.
They expect to have both projects complete within the next year.
