BAKERSFIELD - The Kern County Fire Department is helping escort a group of special first responders who are on a nationwide mission to raise awareness on breast cancer.

The group is in southwest Bakersfield Friday and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Founder of the program, Dave Graybill says everyone is welcome to come and visit the traveling fire truck.  He says people are encouraged to sign the truck which already has stories written by survivors, people battling with cancer and those who write something in honor of their loved ones.

The pink fire trucks spent the day traveling through Bakersfield surprising people facing a tough battle.  We spoke with a cancer patient who says the truck and the volunteers behind the program help bring them comfort.
