Kern County firefighters rescue person from burning apartment

RIDGECREST, Calif. - Kern County fire crews came to the rescue of a person who was trapped on the balcony of a burning apartment.
The fire started just before 12:30 Thursday morning at a multi-unit apartment complex in the 200 block of Haloid Avenue in Ridgecrest.
Kern County fire officials tell 23ABC when crews arrived on scene, they found fire coming from the upstairs unit of a two story unit.
Crews found the trapped person on the balcony of the burning unit and were able to pull the victim to safety by using a ladder from the ground. The patient was treated by on-scene ambulance personnel.
Firefighters managed to quickly knock down the flames. Kern County Fire Department investigators have been called to the scene to assist in determining a cause of the fire.
