BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A familiar clean up crew is back on a local highway to clear trash that's been building up.
Kern County inmates wearing their orange jumpsuits lined Highway 58 to help out with the area's litter problem.
And if this new program is successful, it could be expanded to even more roads.
"These are inmates that want to work, they would rather be out in the community giving back while they're doing time off their sentence," said Lt. Greg Gonzales of the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
The Kern Council of Governments will discuss putting more funding into the program at an April 18 meeting.
