BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -

The Kern County Museum Foundation board hired a new executive director.

The board named Roger Perez, current marketing and creative services director for the North of the River Recreation and Park District, as executive director of the museum.

The new hire follows the recent resignation of Randall Hayes, who has decided to step down at the end of October. Hayes was the museum's executive director for less than a year but decided to return to Alabama, where he has family.

Perez currently oversees the marketing and public relations for NOR and its special events and aquatics departments. He also manages the NOR Veterans Hall rental facility and several other facilities. He has extensive experience in media, web design, marketing plans, television production, social media, print production and community relations.
