Kern County sheriff's deputies investigate suspicious death

BAKERSFIELD - The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death in east Bakersfield after a woman was found dead in her home.
Just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday, the Kern County Fire Department responded to a possible overdose in the 800 block of Roberts Lane. When firefighters went inside the apartment, they found Laura Ann Dawson, 42, dead inside.
While the coroner was examining Dawson, they found what looked like injuries to her body. Homicide detectives were then called out to the scene and are now calling it a suspicious death.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says their investigation is on-going.
