Kern County Sheriff's deputy injured in late night mobile home fire

Home destroyed by flames in Wofford Heights

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Kern County Sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries as a two-alarm fire destroyed a mobile home in in Wofford Heights.

The fire in the 400 block of Woodland Drive started at 11:07 p.m. Monday, according to Kern County Fire Captain Sean Collins.

Flames completely engulfed the single-wide mobile home, but the quick action of firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to a pair of nearby structures.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

The mobile home appeared to be unoccupied. Fire investigators were called to the scene to assist with determining a possible cause. 

According to Collins, a Sheriff's deputy received a minor injury due to a slip and fall.
