Kern County Sheriff's Office: Shots fired by deputies in Oildale within policy

After a review of all the facts in this case, the Incident Review Board determined that the use of force by the deputies was within Sheriff’s Office policy.

On Monday, April 29, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Incident Review Board convened to consider the use of force by deputies in relation to an officer involved shooting which occurred on April 18, in Oildale.
The deputies were identified as Sergeant Doug Sword, Deputy Joshua Geissel, Deputy Braydon Ferguson, Deputy Justin Sawaske, Deputy Cody Johnson, and Deputy Phillip Banks.
The Incident Review Board consisted of Chief Deputy Francis Moore, Chief Deputy Kevin Zimmermann, Chief Deputy Brian Wheeler, and Commander Justin Fleeman.
