Kern County students learn to buy low, sell high in Junior Achievement competition

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - High school students in Kern County will participate in a unique competition that helps them learn more about the economy.
The Junior Achievement competition, is a realistic, fast-paced simulation of stock market trading.
Students received $1 million imaginary dollars to buy and sell stocks from mock companies.
Their goal is to create the highest portfolio net worth in one hour, with each minute representing one day.
Organizers said students used communication, team-building and critical thinking skills to be successful.
First, second, and third place winners will be awarded.
