The Kern Regional Crime Laboratory has received a new technology that could help reveal previously unknown case links.
The Evofinder Automated Ballistic Identification system allows the crime lab to create 2D and 3D digital images of bullets and cartridges that the lab can then examine, compare, and enter into searchable databases. The crime lab will be able to obtain better and faster search results from the databases with these images.
The Evofinder system has already uncovered three new links to cases that were previously not known to be linked.
