KSCO pot grow raid yeilds 88 pounds of marijuana, weapons

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Narcotics detectives assigned to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violator Unit developed information unknown suspects were cultivating marijuana in a clandestine garden on private property in the Twin Oaks area.

During the morning hours on Tuesday with the assistance of the KCSO Air Support Unit, detectives were flown to the remote area where they located the garden; however they discovered the marijuana had already been harvested.

Deputies were unable to locate any suspects in the area; but they did find approximately 88 pounds of processed marijuana, which had been bagged up and prepared to remove from the garden. They also found a 22 caliber rifle, an SKS assault rifle, and evidence the suspects had been working in the garden earlier that day.
