BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield City School District held a Trombone Day at Sequoia Middle School's auditorium on Thursday.
152 students participated in the event today.
Trombone day was inspired after the school district's Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator noticed a lack of trombonists. The music department decided that the only solution was to pump up students about the idea of playing trombone in the school music program with a two-hour educational field trip.
Thanks to the support from Yamaha Corporation and Nick Rail Music, professional Bass trombonist and Yamaha Performing Artist, Robert Soto, was the clinician.
Soto is a native from El Paso, Texas, and has performed internationally.
