Lamont police, SWAT shooting determined within policy

LAMONT, Calif. -  

On Wed. Dec. 12, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Incident Review Board gathered to consider the use of force by deputies in two shooting incidents which occurred in Lamont on Nov. 14, and Nov. 15.

The deputies were identified as Sergeant Dustin Downey, Senior Deputy Raul Murillo, Senior Deputy Michael Booker, Deputy Conrado Curiel, Deputy Patrick McNeal, Deputy Christian Melero, Deputy Derrick Penney, Deputy Gabriel Romo, and Deputy Darren Wonderly.

The Incident Review Board consisted of Chief Deputy Shelly Castaneda, Chief Deputy Francis Moore, and Chief Deputy Brian Wheeler.

After a review of all the facts in this case, the Incident Review Board determined that the use of force by the deputies was within Sheriff’s Office policy.
