SHAFTER, Calif. - A large building fire on Lorraine Lane in Shafter, resulted in the Kern County Fire Department requesting a second alarm on Thursday.
On Jan. 24, at about 12 p.m., fire crews faced a vacant, single story building that was under construction.
The fire, according to officials, was coming from the center of the building.
Initial crews made an aggressive attack, while searching for victims.
Due to the size of the fire, and for safety precautions, a second alarm was requested.
Efforts to extinguish the fire were hampered by downed power lines and difficulty accessing the building.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Officials estimated about $100,000 in structure damage.
