BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County law enforcement, friends and family will ride motorcycles to honor the lives of officers lost locally.
The 7th annual Officer Down Ride benefits the Kern County 999 Foundation.
Code 999 is used when an officer is down, and urgent help is needed.
The ride started at 9:30 a.m. at Bikersfield on Fairhaven Drive. The route took the ride through downtown to the Law Enforcement Memorial.
There was a memorial ceremony with Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Williamson, and California Highway Patrol Captain Mike Cardoza.
The ride then heads to the Original Roadhouse Grill on Rosedale Highway for lunch and live bands. Tickets are $15.
