Light the Night walk benefits cancer research, support

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -

A night-time walk will be held Sunday night to raise funds for cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk funds research and support for people battling cancer.

Friends, families and co-workers form fundraising teams and millions of consumers help by donating at retail outlets.

This is a casual fundraising walk with no fitness requirements.

You can register to walk individually or as part of a team; just make a donation online; or become a volunteer or sponsor.

Every walker is encouraged to become a Champion For Cures by raising $100 or more to help support the work of hundreds of the world's best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

The walk will begin at 7 p.m. at the park at River Walk.
