Three people were charged with two misdemeanors and are being held responsible for the death of Bakersfield resident Philip Dhanes, according to officials.
On Sept. 1, Philip Dhanens died after the Fresno County Coroner said excessive intoxication caused his brain to swell.
Court documents showed three Theta Chi Fraternity members, Aaron Raymo, Leonard Serrato, and Daniel Baker, were identified as the buyers of the alcohol consumed by the 18-year-old pledge.
Details were announced on March 12, 2013, at about 10:30 a.m., regarding the case status of the September 2012 hazing death involving the suspects who provided alcohol to the victim today.
Raymo, Serrato, and Baker are being charged with hazing and for providing alcohol to a minor, according to the Fresno County District Attorney Elizabeth A. Egan. Egan said they could possibly face 6 months to a year in prison, and fines of up to $5,000.
Dhanens, a Garces High graduate, was in his first year of college at Fresno State.
