BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - PG&E awards a grant to a program that educates people with disabilities about disaster preparedness.

Independent Living Center of Kern County received a grant of $6,500 from Pacific Gas and Electric Company to fund a Disaster Preparedness program called 'Empowered to Go."

The program will educate people with disabilities and their families, and corporate entities who serve people with disabilities, about the unique needs and preparations for people with disabilities. 

 

The Center discovered the need after Hurricane Katrina and will address three specific focuses over a six month period.
