Local organizations and advocates will gather at the Liberty Bell on Wednesday to "Rally for Healthy Communities."

Organizers of the event fear that cutting or reducing coverage will have a negative impact on the people of Kern County.

Medi-Cal has created jobs and provided people with preventative care services, according to a report sent out by Building Healthy Communities- South Kern.

If funds are cut 160,000 children, seniors and working families will lose coverage; 14,700 jobs will be lost and local economies will lose $350 million, Building Healthy Communities- South Kern said.

Community leaders, advocates, and organizations will meet at 5 p.m. at the Liberty Bell located at 1415 Truxtun Avenue.
