Local artist creates statue for Garces Memorial High School to serve as mascot

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A statue, created and donated by a local artist, will be unveiled today in Bakersfield.
Chris Folsom crafted a sculpture over the time span of 13-months, that will now reside at Garces Memorial High School as their mascot.
Folsom has a Bachelors of Science in Sociology and attended graduate school for Anthropology/Archeology.
He has also worked as an actor, archeologist, wilderness instructor, teacher, screenwriter, columnist, master yoga instructor, and many other things.
The unveiling of the stature is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m., at the Sam Tobias Field at the high school.
Refreshments will be provided.
