Revive, a local church in east Bakersfield, welcomes anyone to their services. However, a majority of the people who attend are either homeless or struggle with addiction, or both.

Pastor Louie Wright says the community is an outlet to try work through these problems together. Because many of them struggle or have struggled with addiction, they’re able to support and relate to each other.

“It’s not removing the hardship, it’s actually learning how to have a life worth living even in hardship,” said Wright.

Revive meets every Saturday at 1 p.m. for their service, then immediately after, everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy a meal together. Revive is a campus of Canyon Hills, which has locations throughout Central California. This campus in Bakersfield was started in May of 2016.
