BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Before 5am Thanksgiving morning, people were already lining up outside The Mission at Kern County for a free warm breakfast, but that was just the start of a long day at the mission.
The prep work started the day before for what the mission's spokesperson, Tim Calahan, calls "the Super Bowl of meals".
The mission cooked up 50 turkeys for the hundreds of homeless people thankful for the warm meal.
According to Calahan the mission serves over 200,000 meals a year all thanks to local donations.
