A teenage girl is still shaken up after she said she thought she was going to be kidnapped in northwest Bakersfield Sunday night.
The incident all unfolded in the Albertson's shopping center on Olive Drive and Coffee Road.
Emmilie, 17, who asked that we do not use her last name for her safety, said made a quick stop at Albertsons Sunday night around 9:30 p.m. to take her friend a coffee because her friend was working a late shift.
Emmilie said she was in the store for about 10 minutes before heading back out to her car to go home. That's when she said a car pulled up and that's when she got an uneasy feeling.
"It just didn't seem right, it didn't feel like somebody was just coming to go get in a parking spot. They were slowed down," said Emmilie.
Emmilie said she immediately picked up her phone and pretended to make a call. That's when she said the car sped up and pulled into the parking spot right next to her car.
"They had their windows down and they said 'Get her, get her, get her. Get out! Get her!,'" said Emmilie.
Emmilie said she took off running to a man she saw in the parking lot and asked him to stay with her.
Eventually going inside Albertsons and called her mom and police.
In the meantime another person went and approached the suspect car which was still sitting in a nearby parking lot.
Emmilie said that person told her the people in the suspect car said it was all a joke.
But to Emmilie, it was no laughing matter.
Emmilie called it a sick joke after the string of Facebook posts that have been circulating lately about possible scary encounters.
Multiple women have posted to Facebook explaining recent times in northwest Bakersfield that they have been out and have caught men following them in stores.
Emmilie said that is exactly why she wanted to share her story.
"Be aware at all times, take precautions before things can happen, trust your gut instinct," said Emmilie.
Emmilie said the driver was a Hispanic male in his 30's in and the passenger was a Hispanic female in her 30's. They were seen in a white 4-door car.
Bakersfield Police said they will be sending Emmilie's report to the investigation unit for detectives to review.
They said they have not had any other victims come forward in connection to the Facebook posts that have been circulating online.
BPD posted on their Facebook page asking anyone who has been in that situation to contact them and file a report so that they can investigate it.
"It has been brought to our attention that there are multiple Facebook posts about suspicious circumstances that occurred in Northwest Bakersfield over the last two weeks. In the posts, it appears one or possibly two males, follow females who are alone or with children.
We encourage you to file a report if you have experience circumstances such as this so we can conduct an investigation. To do so, please call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111."
