Local veterans return from WWII Memorial trip to Washington, D.C.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Nearly 100 local veterans will be landing at Meadows Field Thursday night, completing a whirlwind trip to the nation's capitol.

The collection of veterans, including two local Pearl Harbor survivors, left dark and early on Tuesday for the trip of a lifetime.

For many, their first trip not only to Washington, D.C., but to the World War II Memorial in their honor.

The local honor flight made this possible through donations. 

Not to mention, more than 60 people from Kern County who made the journey as trip organizers to assist the veterans in getting around the city.

They will be arriving at Meadows Field at 8:30 p.m.
