Man accused of 2012 slaying two bail bondsmen in Bakersfield sentenced to 38 years

Two murder charges were dropped

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield man who took a plea deal after the shooting and killing of  two brothers learned his sentence Tuesday.

Stephen Michael Stewart will serve 38 years and 4 months in prison after shooting and killing Brandon and Zachary Sims in 2012.

The brothers were the sons of Vincent Sims, owners of Bad Dog Bail Bonds.

Stewart took a plea deal. He has already served 2 years of the sentence.
