Man arrested for allegedly setting apartment building on fire in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man they believed set an apartment complex on fire, Wednesday. 

Deputies were sent to the 1800 block of Quincy Street when they noticed a fire that had begun to engulf an apartment complex.

Deputies evacuated the complexes immediately and developed information that the fire had been set while it was occupied.

Deputies assisted Kern County Fire Department Arson Investigators in identifying the suspect who had started the fire.

Jose Aparicio-Velasquez was arrested at the intersection of Truxton Avenue and Q Street.

Aparicio-Velasquez was booked on charges of arson of an inhabited structure and is currently being held on $50,000.00 bail.
