One man is dead after an altercation at a group home.
According to the Kern County Sheriff's Department, Joseph Adam Lynch, 24, was transported to Kern Medical Center where he was pronounced dead after he assaulted a staff member. Deputies were called to 3000 Hinsley Street at around 5 p.m. Tuesday when a staff member at the group home said the man, who was a client, stopped breathing after they tried to subdue him.
"While waiting for the deputies' response, the client stopped breathing. Deputies arrived on scene and began administrating CPR," Kern County Sheriff's Sergeant Bill Smallwood said.
When deputies arrived on scene, they waited for a search warrant to enter the home to talk to staff members.
It is unclear what the man's cause of death is.
