Man attacked with a wrench improving, fundraiser helps family

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Tickets are on sale for a fundraiser to benefit a local welder who was attacked with a large socket wrench while working near Derby Acres.
Bobby Fitts is an employee of PCL Industries and was airlifted to KMC with a fractured skull.
According to family members, he has since regained his speech and is improving.
The suspect, Michael Atkison, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, but has since bailed out of jail.
Atkison will be in court Sept. 18.
There is a fundraiser being held to benefit Fitts and his family.
"A Time for Bobby Fitts" is taking place at McMurphy's Irish Pub on Monterey Street in east Bakersfield.
It is open to the public on Wednesday until 2 a.m.
Tickets are $12 each.
