TAFT, Calif. - A man was arrested after he attempted to set fire to a home with six people, including his 3-year-old daughter in it Friday night.
Officials said 57-year-old Carl Robertson, of Taft, was interrupted while dousing the outside of the home on Church Street with 10 gallons of gasoline.
Six people were inside the home, including one who had a restraining order against Robertson.
According to reports, the residents began to smell the fumes and confronted Robertson, who was pouring gas on the house.
Robertson said he wanted to see his daughter and then fled the scene.
Robertson was arrested by Taft Police, Monday night.
Officials said Robertson was being held on $250,000 bail on the arson charges. He is also being charged for violating a restraining order.
As of Thursday morning, Robertson had posted bail and was released by Taft Police. According to officials, he did not fully violate his restraining order because he was not within 100 feet of the person.
