Man found beaten in parking lot

DELANO, Calif. - On Saturday at about 11 p.m., Kern County Sheriff's Department deputies from Delano were sent to the 10400 block of Mettler Ave, in the outskirts of Delano, on a report of an unconscious male subject bleeding from the face and head.

Deputies said they found 53-year-old Gabriel Vega, a Bakersfield resident, unconscious in a parking lot, suffering from injuries to his face and head.

Deputies said that during their investigation, they discovered that the incident occurred at a birthday party attended by well over 100 people.

As they continued their investigation, they found a second subject, Jose Herrera Arceo, 33, asleep inside a nearby vacant residence on the property. Arceo was also suffering from apparent minor injuries to his face, deputies said.

Vega was taken to a Bakersfield area hospital and admitted, in serious condition.

Arceo was transported to a Delano hospital for treatment.  No suspects have been identified at this time.
