WASCO, Calif. - A farm worker was found dead in a pickup truck and officials are awaiting an autopsy to discover his cause of death.
At about 8 a.m. Monday, a farm laborer working in the area of the 28500 block of Jackson St. southwest of the city of Wasco said they found a white older model pickup truck parked in an orchard.
The farm laborer approached the vehicle and saw a man in the front seat of the vehicle. The farm laborer believed the person was asleep and then drove to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Wasco substation to report the vehicle parked in the orchard.
At about 9:30 a.m., deputies said they found the vehicle and saw that the man, 36-year-old Martin P. Corona, in the front seat was dead.
Corona did not display any signs of trauma and there was no immediately obvious indication of cause or manner of death, officials said.
Detectives were sent to the scene and the Kern County Coroner's Office took possession of the body.
The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine cause and manner of death.
