Man involved in big rig crash last month identified

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An El Centro man was positively identified through DNA testing after his involvement in a big rig truck accident in January.
On Jan. 4, at about 5:00 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol went to the intersection of Edison Road and Mueller Road in Bakersfield regarding a big rig collision.
Officials said when they arrived thick black smoke surrounded the area from the wreck.
Authorities said the victim, now identified as 73-year-old Plutarco Perez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
