Man involved in shooting, 2 hour Mojave chase sentenced

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man was sentenced Thursday for charges related to a two-hour chase through Bakersfield.

22-year-old Christian Nevarez received a little over 6 years in jail for three charges, including reckless evading an officer, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and transporting a controlled substance.

In January 2013, Nevarez and a 16-year-old shot a man at the Motel 6 in Mojave, then headed for Bakersfield.

Deputies said a chase began and lasted for two hours and reached a top speed of 110 miles per hour.
