Man police said is behind a SWAT team standoff pleaded "not guilty"

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Kern County man pleaded not guilty to charges of felony assault Wednesday.

Police said Ronnie Fangmeyer, 30, created a standoff with the SWAT team in the Rosedale area.

Officials said Fangmeyer shot at a person inside a home on Chuckwagon Street in Rosedale and then barricaded himself inside in late November.

Several people, including a 3-year-old, managed to escape the chaos.

SWAT officers got Fangmeyer to surrender.

Fangmeyer is facing several felony charges including assault with a deadly weapon and willful cruelty to a child.

Fangmeyer will be back in court on Valentine's Day.
