BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - One man said he was near a victim of the power plant implosion Saturday morning.
Pat McNamara said he chose not look when a man was severely injured in the leg after shrapnel from the implosion flew into bystanders.
"I figured we're about 350 yards away," said McNamara. "I didn't figure a piece of material would fly that far."
McNamara said he was with a friend who tried to help the man.
"My friend came over to look at him, and he was going to put a tourniquet on him, and somebody said, 'Aw, he doesn't need a tourniquet,'" said McNamara.
